Alright, so you’re engaged. Once the Facebook comments and phone calls die down, it’s officially time to stress over planning incessantly until your big day finally rolls around. Unless, of course, you decide to forge a less traditional path and consider an elopement instead. Lately, we are seeing so many couples decide to elope and circumvent the chaos of a traditional engagement altogether. Here’s a few reasons you should do the same.
1. THE CASH
This one is a no brainer. It’s no secret that weddings are insanely expensive. In the US, studies show that you can save an average of $22,000 by opting to elope. Is your wallet making heart eyes yet?!
2. THE INTIMACY
Anyone who has ever gotten married will laugh as soon as they hear “it’s all about the couple.” While it’s a nice thought, more often than not, the wedding becomes about the families and the guests. In order to keep the focus on you and your sweetheart, opt for an elopement. Whether it’s just the two of you or a small group, take the power back and say screw tradition.
3. THE LOCATION
Depending on your budget, amount of guests, and availability in your area, you may find yourself very limited on what your venue options are. By deciding to elope, your budget goes up and your horizons broaden.
4. THE DRAMA
There wouldn’t be an entire movie genre dedicated to wedding drama if it weren’t such a real and relatable thing. The fewer people, the less drama. It’s simple.
5. THE STRESS
According to the American Institute of Stress, getting married ranks number SEVEN as the most stressful life event. All my past brides know why this is, so as a new fiance, save yourself the pain of finding out why.
